FX x ZooGames [UPDATED]

Hello @BlueStitch

We appreciate your inquiry regarding this proposal. It’s essential to understand that a $50k budget won’t produce a AAA game. Additionally, conducting a comprehensive market study is beyond our budgetary capacity at this time. Such studies require time, external expertise, and can be costly. Given our limited budget, it doesn’t seem feasible. Metrics such as conversion rates, players by country, and market reach aren’t typically utilized for a game of this scale, especially in the WEB3 realm.

Our primary offering is to make the ZooGames protocol available on FunctionX. The game serves as a compelling use case, showcasing to developers the benefits of minting in-game NFTs directly on FX. Moreover, players will be rewarded and can trade their in-game NFT for FX on FXgora. We assure you the game won’t follow a Pay2Win model.

The metrics you’re seeking largely depend on the buzz around FunctionX. We can’t provide guaranteed metrics as we’re still familiarizing ourselves with the FX ecosystem. While we’re getting to know and appreciate the community, we also hope to introduce our community to yours. However, providing metric guarantees at this stage, beyond what we’ve already proposed, is challenging.

Regarding the game’s genre and theme, we aim to engage the community in discussions to collaboratively decide on the game mechanics. This approach aligns with our vision of community-driven decision-making, somewhat akin to a DAO. Furthermore, as Indra suggested, the grant will only be disbursed upon delivery, ensuring a win-win scenario.

As for marketing, we’ve outlined our strategies in our roadmap and various threads.

In summary, the $50k isn’t solely for game development but to unite communities around a gaming protocol called ZooGames. In fact, the game’s actual cost to us will exceed $50k.

@BlueStitch , @indra ,

First proposal, with Kawaii Chaos, was considered too expensive by @indra and he was putting milestones on crazy metrics.
Second proposal, without Kawaii Chaos, is less expensive, but @BlueStitch is requestinf plenty of metrics (not constituting milestones though).

At some point, could the members of the team display a unique and clear position on what the team is expecting ? or define new rules ?

The new proposal is requesting 90k $USDT (including 30k $USDT for liquidity and 10k $USDT for LP rewards ==> so actually 50k $USDT for development.
The previous proposal was requesting 120k $USDT in 2 parts (including 30k $USDT for LP Pool), so 90k $USDT for development, the double…

I’m also shocked to see that we were asking for a 1.2k users interaction with FX Zoo games, because you should know that we probably don’t have that many users interacting with the FX chain weekly !

Other contributors of FunctionX (@ClaudioxBarros , @FxWorldValidator , @fxfxtothemoon , @11110, @nexus , @Tarestyles , …), how do you feel about this ?

I feel like “peeing in a violin” like we say in french…  :joy:

On the same subject, I would recommend ZooGames to go back to the initial proposal with the initial funding, setting metrics as “for information only” (not linked to milestones), and with monthly updates and payments. If it doesn’t trigger 40% quorum threshold, we’ll go thru one of those other governance crisis (like when team validators which were said wouldn’t vote did vote on proposal #40) to avoid a decentralization failure.

On the other side, I’m not saying we should approve anything, because liquidity is scarce right now, but we also should talk frankly and avoid making people loose time. Otherwise, we’ll miss the Web3 games use case, like we missed the NFT use case, and like we might miss others.

Regards,
@FrenchXCore

I love kawai game, 100% vote for kawai

Hi FrenchXCore,

I appreciate your response and would like to make a few clarifications.

I never mention (or thought) that the proposal is expensive (please correct me if i am wrong, and let me know if i ever mentioned it, but i have 0 intention on it).

What I did was suggest metrics (which I mentioned in detail, and I think it should be helpful for this discussion to state all our expectations upfront).

I am supporting the Zoo Games and think they have huge potential. Regarding the number of wallets, I took 1% of the current total wallets, and tbh, I think it is quite acceptable since ZooGames mentioned that they’d get 3,000 players and have concrete marketing plans (again, correct me if I am wrong, @Genshimaro).

I never have any intention of making people lose time, I hope you understand.

Thank you.

Hello @FrenchXCore, personally, I really liked the Kawaii Chaos game type, and from the comments, I’m sure we all did. However, with the introduction of the new proposal, it appears that the direction is shifting away from Kawaii Chaos to another game concept that remains somewhat unclear to me in terms of its design and features.

For me, the reason this clarity matters is because the initial proposal had already set certain expectations, and I believe this sentiment might be shared among others too.

Regarding the metrics I mentioned earlier, my intention was more centered on gaining insight into the current and future direction. Sharing some figures from previously developed games could potentially shed light on the interest within the GameFi space. I didn’t mean to imply that these metrics should be the basis for setting milestones. Instead, I viewed them as anticipated outcomes given Zoogames’ proven expertise, experience, and past successes.

I am sure ZooGames @Genshimaro will do excellent work to develop the game while listening to everyone’s feedback. Looking, for example, Zooracers, it’s a great game.

Therefore, it might be beneficial to collectively align our expectations. For instance, could we clarify whether the game will retain its FPS format or if there will be a shift? Furthermore, insights on whether it will be a 3D or 2D game could help the community understand what lies ahead.

Thanks again

The new proposal highlights a 3D mobile game, and I’ve noted that $50k isn’t sufficient for an FPS game. We’d rather start with a more budget-friendly game, and if it resonates with the community, we can then pursue making Kawaii Chaos a reality by creating a new EGF proposal in the future.

BTW we’ve received verbal agreements from two independent developers who are keen on building a game on FX once the protocol is launched. The potential outcomes could be very promising.

This is interesting for everyone. So far i know, there are 5 games on zoo.games. One or two still in betaphase. @Genshimaro May I ask how many daily players do you have on zoo.games? And total number of registered playerID? This gives us a mindset how many user could join FxCore.

As @FrenchXCore mentioned, it would be nice to show a clear position on what the team is expecting before we go to proposal 3,4,5…

In my opinion:
Right now For FxCore growth it doesn’t matter proposal A or B. Both ecosystem dont have that much userbase to attract more user through a better/more expensive game. But do we want a game or a really good game? I prefer a good game and thats why i would also recommend ZooGames to go back to the initial proposal with the initial funding, setting metrics as “for information only” (not linked to milestones), and with monthly updates and payments.

Hi @FxWorldValidator , regarding the change of proposal, we worked on the Kawaii Chaos concept (FPS) according to the budget and payments going along with development as we originally planned, and also with a longer development period needed when creating such game. Now as @indra mentioned before, that there should be payment made only when the game is out (e.g. beta release), we have stated it was not possible for us to go ahead with such a heavy game development under these conditions. The latest proposal follows those conditions but with a shorter development time, a smaller budget and therefore a different type of game (3D mobile-only, fun and attractive to play in order to keep players entertained).

Regarding ZooGames users, we currently have 3200 ZooGamesIDs created on the website and as a reference, we have registered 180 txs in-game in the last 24 hours (not including NFT txs, only vZOO), this is of course under current market conditions. Now we are confident in both our communities to play the game once its released and interact with the ZooGames protocol, but the team is also being very active on acquiring external users via other projects (campaigns, partnerships, etc)

Thank you all for your input/comments/suggestions.

Thank you @Silverlake for sharing some current stats with the total ZooGamesIDs created and the txs in-game in the past 24hrs. Totally makes sense that the market condition plays a crucial role in the usage.

Stats like these can build more confidence in the future direction of the games you develop.

I fully understand, @indra , but I understood it differently as I told you.
You were expecting to do a single final payment “if…”.
I’m sure we would all gain from having a gaming platform, and a great game to start with.
Market conditions are really bad right now, but it’s great if we keep building in the meantime, on solid use cases (and gaming is one, or even p**n would be !! :joy:).
That’s why I’d recommend switching back to the initial proposal, adding For Information Only milestones, and adding monthly updates. This way, liquidity would be spent slowly, without entangling our LPs.
And we definitely need to discuss the governance issue as well. I didn’t like seeing Miami and Delhi validators voting for proposal #40 when we said team validators will never vote.
The team definitely needs to reallocate foundation’s tokens delegations ASAP and regularly to warranty public validators can reach quorum. Otherwise, it’s a fail for decentralization (for now…).

Hi all!
As a member of the community and representative of the public validator “FX FriendsX”
I want to express my support for the initiative to create a game!
With all my heart, I want Function X to sound loud. I want to see something bright and something that will make us stand out. If this is a game, then a special game! So that the community is replenished with new people.
Not another game, just for having a game!)
I liked the first suggestion.
«Kawaii Chaos»
We at FX Friends X would say yes!)

And I have to say I’m happy to see some discussion in there !
I feel a bit lonely sometimes.
And I apologize if I may seem rude, but I lost a bit of my outstanding patience 3 months ago because of an health event, and I also quitted smoking at the same time :joy:
I also made a wrong git command yesterday and almost lost the FX monitor I was working on since 2 months.
Nevertheless, I don’t loose faith in this community taking the best decisions and going forward, without looking back…
I hope I’ll soon be able to help our fxcore developers over Github as well…

@FrenchXCore

But in fact, as @FrenchXCore already noted, without the participation of team validators, it is probably impossible to gain a quorum!

(although this is a separate issue)
I’d like to add!
Our “FX FriendsX” validator is inactive.
I can say with confidence that our validator is recognizable! At least we are making an effort to do so!
And it seems to me quite active! More than!
Probably everyone in the community knows both our validator and the people behind it! We are open and public!
But unfortunately, now it is impossible to get into the top of active validators without the will of the team!
Because the delegates and the community itself is not that big yet!
But we do not give up) We generate ideas, how we can influence it!)
We work for the trust of our and future validators!

Would it be poasible to have a meeting between the two teams to go over the differences of perspective at a streamlined pace? Othwrwise, i will keep checking here for updates. I think this is an ambitious proposal.

With fxgora being $WFX based, it means even if users from other chains such as eth or bsc come to this new game, they will have to use fxgora(and thus $wfx) to buy /sell/trade the nfts. This inherently creates more use/activity on fx.

If the user has a good UX while doing so, im sure they are likely to be open minded about fx network.

Win/win

Hi everyone,

At this point, I’d like to propose a summary of what I think would be a great approach. Please note that I am in no way tied to the FX team or ZooGames team in any way beside the current discussions and my recent attempt to play poker correctly (which failed totally, as with any other game I can’t tweak !!!   I preferred tweaking Atari 68000 computer games back in the time).

@Genshimaro (and his fellow @Silverlake) from ZooGames (4k vZOO hodlers) proposed to the FunctionX community to fund the development of a Web3 gaming platform along with an FPS game, through EGF (actually Community Spend Pool, currently endowed with 87.4M $FX).
More info here

There are multiple things to take into account :

  1. NFT platform (FXGORA) and NFT bridge:
    • Funding required: $30-40k (~200-265k $FX)
    • Milestones (For Information Only) : 20 creators to launch at least one affordable collection each on FXgora, and at least 3 collections cross chained right from the start, with some incentives to make the bridge opening exciting.
  2. vZOO integration & FX Swap wFX/wZOO LP:
    • Funding required : none
    • ZooGames would be providing $15k in vZoo and $15k in FX for the LP (i.e. they will buy $15k equivalent wFX and provide $15k equivalent vZOO, and add that to the LP upfront)*
  3. FX Swap wFX/wZOO LP incentive (rewards) :
    • Funding required: $10k (~70k $FX)
    • Comment from @FrenchXCore: from what I understood, $10k will be used to incentivize the LP with 12-months locked FX.
    • @Genshimaro specified that additional EGF funding might be required to incentivize the pool later on in case the pool grows significantly. That can be discussed later on…
  4. Game development:
    • case A: Kawaii Chaos: Funding required: $80k (~530k $FX) - including $20k PoC and demo, and 6*$10k for dev (Kawaii Chaos case)
    • case B: Simple game (mobile only): Funding required: $50k (~330k $FX) - including $20k PoC and demo, and $30k for dev - All $50k will contribute to the game development.
    • Question : which platforms should it be running on ? (in a first target)
    • Comment from @FrenchXCore: I’m eager for a full experience, so to target Windows/Linux/MacOS/Android/iOS, with an initial target of Windows/Android/iOS
    • Zoogames will airdrop 1000 NFT (playable cosmetics) to wallets at demo launch.
    • Zoogames will airdrop up to 100k $vZOO to demo players’ wallets.
    • Question : are we ready to fund an $FX airdrop in complement ? (~1.8k $wFX)

A. Exclusivity:

  • Question: Which of those will be exclusive to the FX ecosystem ?
  • Question: On which other ecosystems will the developments apply as well ?
  • Question: What will be open-source or which license will be used ? (contracts, source codes, etc.)

Questions & answers:

  • @SCENE : Will the game have its own way of generating revenue? If so, will it be solely through skins/comestics? If there are others, please do list them.
    • @Genshimaro: ZooGames will be taking a cut from in-game transactions and FXGORA transactions (about 2% in total), and will pumped this money back into the game for cool updates like new maps and cosmetics. ZooGames is also considering other sources of income that will be added later on(Infinite possibilities).
  • @SCENE : After the game is completed, will the team provide continuous updates to the game so players can enjoy newer maps and other features?
  • @SCENE : Once the game is completed, will the team require more funding to do continuous updates to the game?
    • @Genshimaro: Let’s be real, games have a limited lifespan, right? If there’s gonna be a second episode someday, we’ll need some funding, no doubt about it. But that question will arise in 3-4 years if the game is successful.
    • Comment from @FrenchXCore : Need to provide answers regarding maintenance and bugs.

Overall question: timing and integration
How could all of this be nicely integrated within f(x)wallet, fx-swap, FunctionX website ? And when should it reach mandatorily full operational capability to match the future market conditions improvement ? I’d say that if everything’s working perfectly by JAN-JUN 2024, it would be great.

Potential metrics to be considered for the community here

  • total FxEVM addresses interacting with the ZooGames smart contract
  • total $FX transaction value in the NFT marketplace and vZOO
  • numbers of transacted / bridged NFT collections in FXGora
  • number of players of the game (# of unique IDs over latest 24h, latest week, latest month, latest 3-months period, latest 6 months-period)
  • avg session duration
  • percentage of players moving from free to paid content or complete desired actions within the game
  • referral rates and social sharing numbers to gauge organic growth and player enthusiasm.
  • geographical data on the game’s adoption
  • plans for future updates, expansions, or additional content to demonstrate the game’s potential for ongoing player engagement.
  • insights into the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and strategies to attract players.
  • intentions to promote the game through streamers/influencers ?

I tried to summarize as best as I could.
I’d recommend to give ourselves a week or two to edit this post with any additional questions/comments in that post, and then only to discuss how to make sure EGF delivery matches measurable milestones.

As for FX governance, I suggest (@11110 ) we move that to another topic, but this is a required discussion…

Regards,
@FrenchXCore

Thank you for the summary and your time, i really needed this. I missed out a few weeks here and found myself struggling to catch up. Lots of twist and turn with this proposal.

Still trying to fully digest it all. But it’s a start and hopefully others can gasp what’s the latest with zoo game proposal with this post.

Thanks again FXC (yeah that’s your ticker )

I want to support Zoo games, and find the best way that fits all.

Good summary. Thank you

Howdy, it is a long discussion here. Really appreciate the effort!

My concern is that the EGF requested from this team will be allocated as dev fund, meaning that all the FX received will be sold to the market. Assuming the total requested amount is $120,000, which is 8% of FX Liquidity on Uniswap and 12% of liquidity on Fxswap.

Dividing the funds into batches will prevent the price dump and also help us track the project’s progress. We want to see more projects on FX and do not want the EGF to fund a project that deploys without much user adoption. Please consider splitting the $50k to 10 targets with $5k each. It will be a win-win solution to prevent price dump and project monitoring. It will help to maintain the effort from the dev team to keep promoting their app.

Thank you ser.
